14 August 2013, Kuala Lumpur - The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) announces today a new three year strategy to focus on researching for ways to help the bottom 40percent in Malaysia, and that it has made new senior appointments to support the implementation of this new strategy.

IDEAS chief executive Wan Saiful Wan Jan says:

“From now onwards, the overall theme of our work in IDEAS is making markets work for the poor, underprivileged and the disabled.”

The 2013 Economic Freedom Network (EFN) Asia Conference will be held more than two months from now in Bangkok. The theme this year will be Asia, the Middle Income Trap and Economic Freedom.

EFN Annual conferences was initiated in Manila, cool. There were no specific topics in earlier years, only a broad discussion about "Economic Freedom in Asia." Succeeding years have themes, which revealed the important economic issues and concerns that affect our continent on those years.

What is Freedom Caravan?

Freedom Caravan is an internationally recognised program that brings young people together  to explore ideas about individual liberty and economic prosperity.The program consists of engaging talks, working groups and discussion on a chosen theme in campuses across the country.Similar programs have been organized by sister-organizations across the globe in countries such as Brazil, Turkey, Germany, and Kyrgyzstan.

Why Freedom Caravan?

  • To expose young people to the moral and intellectual foundations of a free society;
  • To help create a positive perception of liberal ideas among young people in India, especially regarding ways in which liberal policies can advance the dignity and prosperity of the poor;
  • To identify students and local leaders interested in liberal ideas in order to develop a support network of likemindedindividuals  committed to advance liberal ideas in India.
  • To raise awareness about CCS programs, courses, and campaigns.
