With the recent victory of democracy in Malaysia, what are the prospects of the values of liberalism being upheld?

The upcoming 3rd Liberalism Conference on 22 September 2018 in Kuala Lumpur will look at Malaysia’s standing in terms of rule of law, free markets, limited government, and individual liberty and responsibility, and see how meeting these parameters will contribute to “A Malaysia that upholds the principles of liberty and justice,” the vision set by Malaysia first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The event will cover the following topics:  cost of living, role of GLCs, freedom of speech, and institutional reforms.

It is organized by the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS), a member organization of EFN Asia.
